User Roles

Brand & Influencer Roles

The inzc_brand and inzc_influencer WordPress roles — capabilities, backend restrictions, and admin management.

Influenzic operates on a two-sided marketplace model. Every user is either a Brand or an Influencer. The role is set at registration and determines every aspect of the user’s frontend experience. Roles are implemented as native WordPress roles with custom capabilities — no third-party role plugin is required.

Role Slugs

Influenzic registers two WordPress roles on first activation:

  • inzc_brand — a company or individual running influencer marketing campaigns
  • inzc_influencer — a content creator who applies to and delivers campaigns

WordPress Backend Restriction

Both roles have only the read WordPress capability, which grants no access to /wp-admin/ beyond the profile screen. Influenzic additionally blocks backend access entirely — any attempt by an inzc_brand or inzc_influencer user to load an admin page triggers an immediate redirect to the platform frontend.

Checking Roles in Code

Use standard WordPress capability checks — never hard-code role slug comparisons:

// Correct — check capability, not role
if ( current_user_can( 'inzc_create_campaign' ) ) { ... }

// Also correct for binary role check
if ( in_array( 'inzc_brand', (array) wp_get_current_user()->roles, true ) ) { ... }

Admin Role Management

As a site administrator you can:

  • Change a user’s role from brand to influencer (or vice versa) under Users → Edit User
  • View all users filtered by role in Influenzic → Users
  • Ban or unban a user from the Users admin panel (recorded in wp_inzc_ban_log)
  • Clear an influencer’s onboarding flag to force them through the wizard again
Changing a user’s role has side effects. Switching a brand with active campaigns to the influencer role means they can no longer manage those campaigns from the frontend. Only change roles on inactive accounts or after campaigns are completed or cancelled.
